Post-baby wardrobe

To get back into my goal jeans, I needed to drop 3 sizes.  I began by setting realistic goals.  Before I could get into a size 6, I had to be able to wear a size 10.  No matter what your goal size is, you can use this weekly wardrobe ritual.  Every Sunday, I would try on the same pair of size 10 pants. Some weeks, I’d get closer…ooh, I can actually pull my pants over my knees. Other weeks, I’d be further away. Didn’t these fit better last week? Either way, I found this weekly ritual highly motivating and so will you. Once you can wear those pants, you go for the next size down.  You keep at it until you can wear your goal jeans.  By trying on goal pants every week, you'll keep yourself on track.  Even if it takes months, be relentless!

Here’s another thing to try. When you’re at home, wear those clothes that are slightly too tight for you. Tight clothes say, “Keep eating healthy and exercising. You need to make some extra room in here.” Loose clothes say, “Have another piece of pizza. You’re practically swimming in these sweats.” The death knell for losing weight after baby is buying new clothes in your current size. Where’s the motivation for losing weight if everything that’s cute in your closet actually fits? Instead, have a great wardrobe waiting in your goal size.

You’ll be surviving on “in-between” clothes for a few months. Believe me, if you don’t have much to wear, you’ll be extra motivated to lose those pounds. Keep the goal in sight, eat healthy and exercise, and you'll be able to wear your goal jeans again!
